Accessibility
High Society Mahj is committed to making highsocietymahj.com usable by everyone, including people who browse with a screen reader, a keyboard, screen magnification, or other assistive technology.
The standard we work to
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These are the guidelines most commonly referenced in connection with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and they cover how content is presented, how a site is operated, and how it behaves with assistive technology.
What we have done
- A “skip to main content” link at the top of every page
- Visible keyboard focus on every link, button, and form field
- A pause control on photography that moves on its own
- Descriptive names on image links, so they are not announced simply as “link”
- Text and interface colors reviewed against WCAG contrast thresholds
- Navigation that can be operated with a keyboard alone
Where we currently fall short
We would rather tell you than claim otherwise:
- Some product and gallery photographs do not yet have descriptive alternative text. We are working through our image library.
- Errors on our contact form appear as a group at the top of the form rather than attached to the individual field.
- Checkout is hosted by Shopify, and parts of it sit outside our control. Shopify tests its own checkout against WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
What we deliberately do not use
We do not use an accessibility overlay or widget. Those tools do not repair the underlying code, and people who rely on assistive technology often report that they get in the way. We would rather fix the site itself.
If something blocks you, tell us
If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, please email info@highsocietymahj.com. Let us know which page you were on and what happened, and we will respond within three business days. If you would prefer to place an order by email rather than through the site, we are glad to help with that as well.
